If you have bad marks then they are there for 7 years regardless of what you do.
PLEASE DO NOT fall for anybody that says they can clean your credit up for you. THEY ARE JUST getting your money.
Get you misc. stuff taken care of.
You student loans are there and will remain long after 7 years have past.

You are entitled to one free report per agency per year.
annualcreditreport.com can get you your annual reports for no charge. THey are the only site that is truly free.
Free credit report is not free. If you do not go back and cancel, they charge your credit card monthly.. its a rip off.
Bad credit can stay on your report for 7 years. The best thing to do, is make arrangements to start paying the bad debt off, and get one credit card with a small limit on it. charge a little and pay it right off. Then a few months later, charge a little more, and pay it right off. That will build your good credit.
I filed bankruptcy 12 years ago, and my credit has not had a mark on it since. Sure it took awhile to build it, but it can be done. Once you have it back in a good credit rating area.. make sure you keep it that way.
start by getting a copy of your credit report and then dispute every negative item on your credit report, you can dispute with Transunion, Experian, & Equifax online, on the phone, or by writing a letter. To build your credit get a secured credit card, that should help it rise.
To build credit, you could open credit cards and then never use them. I had 3 credit cards that I never used when I was a student, and that built a decent amount of credit. But, that bears a slight risk, because if your identity is stolen, the thief could rack up debt on the cards.
Get your credit report for free check out freecreditreport.com. They have lots of good info. As long as you are not late on payments, you should have a good score, good for you! Get your miscellaneous items paid off asap so you will only have your student loans, which is considered one of the best debts you could have since the interest is tax deductible.
